A book publishing, recording, and multimedia project on one of the most endearing and least well-knownmanifestations of Peruvian popular culture: the serenata (seranade). This publication is a compilation of the music and lyrics of over forty serenatas belonging to the traditional criollo repertoire, from the Guardia Vieja (Old Guard) to the present day. Recordings feature the most distinguished practitioners of this genre, and important personalities on the Peruvian cultural scene have contributed their knowledge in the form of texts and essays concerning this popular expression which, unfortunately, is now an endangered species.
